National Sewing Month: Completed Reversable Tote

I hope everyone had a great Labor Day!  Ours started out promising, but was plagued by technical dificulties.  The projector at IMAX broke down, so we didn't get to watch the movies.  There were quite a few broken hearted children in that theater.  But we got vouchers to come back another time and see the movies.  Looks like a movie weekend.  (No complaints here!)

Caleb was amazingly patient in waiting for the movie to start.  Until I went for some snacks for the wait.  I don't know why movie theaters insist on selling huge bags of candy.  More than any adult needs to consume in one sitting, much less a kid.  When I cut Caleb off of the Skittles, he went into brat mode... and stayed there all day.  It is very rare that he is just plain defiant, but this was one of those days.  Bedtime was a welcome visitor in our house tonight.

It wasn't all bad today, though.  I came home to a sheduled job interview for tomorrow.  Finally!  It has been about a year since my last interview.  I realize that nothing may come of it, but just getting an interview is a big deal about now.  It was starting to look a little grim.

Now, on to the fun stuff.  I finished the next bag in Sew What! Bags: 18 Pattern-Free Projects You Can Customize to Fit Your Needs.  This one is a reversable tote bag.

The fabrics were some of the estate sale finds I got a couple of weeks ago.  They really turned out to be cute fabrics.  Not something I would carry on a daily basis, but perfect for a trip to the beach or pool.  Overall, I am quite proud of how it turned out.  I might actually be getting a hang of this sewing thing!

The next project in the book is another tote.  It is heavier duty than this one, which probably means a trip to the fabric store.  Not that I am complaining...

  3. Hi! Following back from the blog hops. I'm a new sewer (is that right? cause that is sewer, like a sewer drain, whatever, you know what I mean) and my first projects were bags. My machine is packed and on the way to Japan, but I can't wait to get back to it!
